Wine and Cheese or Keys?

Updated: Mar 11, 2022

I am looking forward to playing for local wineries on the weekends. Piano music and wine just go together. My daughter and I have been visiting wineries in Virginia and it is developed a passion for the amazing wines they are producing. It seems natural to take my piano on the road to these wonderful places and enhance the experience of tasting a wine for the first time.

I love trying new wines with old cheeses and old wines with new cheeses. The same goes for my piano music, old songs, played in a new style, new songs played in an old style or simplified on the piano. In my humble opinion, much piano sheet music is "over written" and needs to be simplified. If the songs has a beautiful melody and matching chords, that is often all that is needed.

Below is a repertoire list focused on music I might play for a wedding or cocktail hour but playing for a winery would allow for more fun music and maybe some Disney songs for kids. While I do not know many songs about wine, I do however know songs from all genres of music and like to mix things up regularly, moving from pop and rock songs, to country songs, a movie theme and TV show theme.

Below is a photo in my kitchen with a few bottles of wine I've collected over the last few years. Much of the wine I find, doesn't last very long! In front of the wine is the smaller portable YAMAHA keyboard I play for rehearsals or if it is a short event. I also play for cocktail parties and weddings.

I'd love to play at your venue!
